Technicians, consultants and customer-site teams

Mobile data for people working beyond their own office.

A technician needs the job details, a consultant needs a company application, and a coordinator needs a clear purchase record. For field work, prepare the whole process — from the device to the fallback connection.

  • Prepare phones and hotspots
  • Assign purchases to individuals
  • Plan separately for critical connectivity

This scenario concerns employees using compatible phones on trips. It is not an offer of M2M connectivity, fleet tracking or a guaranteed industrial network link.

Identify the tasks that actually need a connection

Separate work that can be prepared offline from work that requires data on site. Manuals and maps can often be downloaded beforehand; a job-management system, photograph upload or video consultation may require a live connection. Measure file sizes and meeting needs using your actual applications.

A laptop hotspot also carries updates, synchronisation and background programs. Field work on a phone does not necessarily mean low data usage. Agree hotspot policy with IT and check that the chosen package permits the intended use.

The customer’s location matters more than a broad coverage claim

A connection in a city centre says little about reception inside a hall, basement, construction site or remote facility. Ask the customer about local conditions and approved guest-network access. Check the package’s countries and coverage, while recognising that service is not guaranteed in every room.

If connectivity affects safety, payments or the continuity of a customer’s process, agree a suitable dedicated solution with the responsible provider. A travel eSIM can support an employee; it does not replace the reliability design of an entire system.

Prepare access with company IT

Check permission to add an eSIM, the absence of a network lock and managed-device requirements. If a company application restricts IP addresses, connection location or VPN use, test those requirements before travelling. An eSIM is not a security certification for the device.

Each employee should have their own account and installation information. Administrators manage memberships and purchases, not a shared team password. Agree what happens when phones are passed between shifts; profiles should not be assumed transferable or freely reinstallable.

Allow for a changing work schedule

Service visits can have uncertain return dates. Before buying, understand validity, the activation trigger and the options if the stay is extended. Do not assume automatic renewal or a top-up on the same profile; the available solution depends on the product.

When people leave on different dates, organise purchases around actual recipients and routes. Bulk purchasing reduces manual work, but still requires checking each recipient’s result. Also agree who authorises another package while an assignment is under way.

Review expenditure without guessing what someone is doing

Monthly limits define purchasing permissions. The services and expense views show the packages associated with the organisation. The portal is not presented as employee location tracking or a complete inspection of their network activity.

After an assignment, export the relevant records and check available documents. If a member changes role or leaves, review their access and active services separately. Profile suspension, blocked membership and expiry are different operations.

Give people a simple problem-solving plan

Before departure, record the company contact, order details and an alternative way to connect. On site, first check the selected data line, the product instructions and service state. Do not remove the profile unless you have established that doing so is appropriate.

A useful support request describes the country, device, when the problem started and the error message. Do not publish QR or activation details. For important work, agree the acceptable interruption and an independent way to contact the customer beforehand.

Questions before you decide

Will the eSIM work in our router or payment terminal?

Do not infer that from phone compatibility. Provide the exact model and use case so that product and device requirements can be checked before purchase.

Do you guarantee a fixed IP address?

That is not a standard promise of this offer. Discuss any fixed-IP requirement with IT and the ROAMLINX team.

Does the portal analyse laptop data use by application?

It shows available service information based on supplier observations. It does not replace detailed device or application traffic-analysis tools.

Can a package permanently replace a local connection?

Travel packages have specific validity and usage terms. Long-term use in one country needs a separate assessment; do not assume any product is suitable as a permanent replacement.

Where is your team heading?

Tell us the destinations, approximate team size and how you want to organise purchases. We will discuss the account setup and payment terms.
